Skyflow, a leader in PII (Personally Identifiable Information) data privacy and security, has announced a significant expansion of its operations in India, driven by the country’s recent enactment of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.
This expansion is bolstered by a consolidated $95 million in funding from top venture capital firms, including Khosla Ventures and Dentsu Ventures. The DPDP law passed in 2023, protects personal information and requires companies to handle data carefully. Companies can face large fines for violations, up to 250 crore rupees each. This pushes businesses to take data protection seriously.
Skyflow’s PII data privacy vault offers isolation, protection, and governance of sensitive customer PII and UID data. Leveraging polymorphic encryption and a zero-trust approach, Skyflow ensures that sensitive data remains protected while still being usable for distributed teams like data science and marketing.
This technology is critical for businesses aiming to comply with the stringent requirements of the DPDP law.
Despite advancements in digital infrastructure, data breaches remain a significant concern. In 2023, India faced over 400 million cyber threats, with notable breaches such as the Aadhaar data breach affecting 815 million citizens. These incidents underscore the critical need for robust data protection solutions like Skyflow’s data privacy vault.
Anshu Sharma, Co-founder and CEO of Skyflow emphasized the importance of protecting PII and Aadhaar data, highlighting that the DPDP law has set stringent standards for data protection, making compliance essential for companies to avoid severe legal and financial penalties.
Vinod Khosla, founder of Khosla Ventures, added that Skyflow’s innovative approach to securing PII and Aadhaar data is crucial for business compliance and building trust in India’s fast-growing digital economy.
Skyflow currently supports a diverse customer base that spans verticals like fintech, retail, travel, and healthcare. Founded in 2019, Skyflow is headquartered in Palo Alto, California.
